1. Service Agreement

By using Collierwood Dry Cleaners' collection and delivery service, you agree to the following terms and conditions. We reserve the right to modify or update these terms at any time.

2. Collection and Delivery

  • Customers must provide accurate collection and delivery addresses.
  • Any changes to a scheduled collection or delivery should be communicated at least 24 hours in advance.
  • If a customer is unavailable at the agreed delivery time, a re-delivery charge may apply.

3. Garment Care and Liability

  • We handle all garments and items with reasonable care and follow the manufacturer's care instructions where applicable.
  • Collierwood Dry Cleaners cannot be held responsible for pre-existing damage, colour fading, shrinkage, or deterioration caused by manufacturer defects, fabric condition, age, or normal wear and tear.
  • In the event of a lost or damaged item where we are found to be liable, compensation will be limited to a reasonable amount based on the item's depreciated value and applicable cleaning charges.

4. Payment and Pricing

  • All orders must be paid in full before delivery, unless otherwise agreed.
  • Prices may be changed or updated without prior notice.
  • Any additional services or charges identified after inspection of your items may be added to the final order total.

5. Customer Responsibilities

  • Customers must remove all personal and hazardous items, including money, jewellery, keys, pens, papers, and other valuables, from pockets before handing over garments.
  • Collierwood Dry Cleaners cannot accept responsibility for personal items left inside garments or other items submitted for cleaning.

6. Curtain, Upholstery and Sofa Cleaning

We use professional wet-cleaning methods, including Lagoon Advanced Care Wet Cleaning, where suitable, for curtains, upholstery, and sofa covers. Whilst every reasonable care is taken during the cleaning process, we cannot be held responsible for damage or deterioration resulting from the following:

Wear and Tear

Curtains, upholstery, sofa covers, materials, and linings may become weakened over time due to regular use, sunlight, atmospheric conditions, and general ageing. Some fabrics, particularly cotton, may have weakened or deteriorated without this being visible before cleaning. The normal mechanical action of the cleaning process may reveal this weakness and, in some cases, cause tearing.

Fading and Colour Changes

Sunlight, heat, damp, cold, and atmospheric conditions can affect fabric colours over time. Once surface dirt and soil are removed, existing colour differences, fading, or changes may become more noticeable. We cannot accept responsibility for these pre-existing conditions.

Stains

Some stains may become permanently set during normal use and may remain visible or become more noticeable after cleaning. Whilst we use professional methods to treat stains, complete removal cannot be guaranteed.

Linings

Curtain and upholstery linings are often exposed to sunlight and environmental conditions, which can weaken them over time. Cleaning may reveal or worsen existing deterioration, causing shredding or damage. We cannot accept responsibility for replacing or relining items. Where possible, a relining service may be available at an additional cost.

Thermal linings may also experience delamination or deterioration if they have already degraded before cleaning.

Relaxation Shrinkage

Shrinkage can occur when spinning and weaving tension within a fabric is released during its first cleaning. During manufacturing, some materials are stretched to maximise yield, and cleaning may cause them to relax and shrink.

British standards may allow approximately 3–5% relaxation shrinkage. However, in some cases, shrinkage may exceed this amount depending on the fabric and whether it was pre-shrunk before the item was made.

Customers with handmade curtains, upholstery, or sofa covers should confirm with the manufacturer that the material was properly pre-shrunk before submitting it for cleaning. If the material has not been pre-shrunk, significant shrinkage or fibre relaxation may occur, and it may not be possible to restore the item to its original size after cleaning.

By submitting these items, the customer understands and accepts that Collierwood Dry Cleaners will use reasonable care and professional methods but cannot be held responsible for deterioration or damage caused by the conditions and risks described above.

7. Wash, Tumble Dry and Fold – Service Wash Orders

a. Personal and Hazardous Items

Customers must thoroughly check all items before collection and remove hazardous or personal objects, including coins, pens, keys, makeup, papers, and other items. We accept no responsibility for objects that are lost or damaged, or for damage caused to garments during the cleaning process due to such items being present.

b. Washing and Drying Process

Service wash loads are generally washed at 30°C or 40°C, depending on the type of load, and tumble dried at a low heat setting where appropriate.

As we process a high volume of laundry, we may not be able to accommodate individual washing preferences, including specific temperatures, detergents, or other personal requirements.

Please note that items included in the Wash, Tumble Dry and Fold service are not ironed.

c. Colour Bleeding and Transfer

We cannot accept responsibility for colour bleeding or colour transfer that occurs during the washing or cleaning process.

d. Laundry Weight and Charges

Laundry will be weighed upon receipt. Where necessary, the final charge may be adjusted according to the actual weight of the items received.

If a weight limit applies to a laundry bag, any excess weight may be charged as an additional bag or bags. Customers will be notified of any applicable changes to their order.

e. Care Labels

Service wash laundry is processed by load, and we do not inspect the individual care label of every garment. Therefore, we cannot accept liability for damage resulting from care instructions that are unsuitable for the standard service wash process.

f. Delicate and Special Items

Items requiring special treatment, including leather, silk, cashmere, fur, velvet, and other delicate fabrics, should not be included unless they are suitable for machine washing and tumble drying.

Collierwood Dry Cleaners cannot be held liable for damage to items caused during normal service wash processing, including tumble drying.

g. Bedding and Towels

Wash, Tumble Dry and Fold orders cannot include bedding or towels unless specifically agreed. Any such items included in a service wash may be added to the order as separate individual products, and the final bill will be adjusted accordingly.

h. Missing Items

Laundry items are tagged and processed by load rather than individually. For this reason, we cannot accept liability for individual items reported missing from a service wash order.

i. Minimum Order Quantity

A minimum order quantity of 6 KG applies to the Wash, Tumble Dry and Fold service.
